Rubio predicts Russia is one of several U.S. adversaries who tried to hack Clinton’s server

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio has just one thing to say about reports that Russia repeatedly attempted to hack the private email server kept by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

“I told you so.”

The Republican presidential candidate appeared on Fox News’ “The Kelly File” late Wednesday evening to discuss the reports.

“When this whole thing about the e-mail [server] broke, one of the first things I said is [Clinton] made susceptible to foreign intelligence agencies sensitive information about U.S. strategy and U.S. policies,” Rubio told host Megyn Kelly.

According to Rubio, who serves on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and dropped to fourth place in this week’s Washington Examiner presidential power rankings, Russia is likely just one of several U.S. adversaries who have tried to breach the Democratic front-runner’s personal server.

“I don’t know this for sure, but I bet you’re going to find the Chinese, as well. And maybe some other intelligence sources trying to access that as well,” Rubio said.

He continued, “I thought, of all the things that have happened here, the lying is a big deal of course, but the exposure of sensitive information to foreign intelligence agencies by communicating in an unsecure manner is incompetent, it is malpractice, it’s inexcusable.”

Since the release of the latest batch of Clinton emails Wednesday, reports indicate the number of classified emails she sent or received during her tenure at the State Department amount to around 400.

According to the latest Quinnipiac University poll, a greater percentage of registered voters currently hold positive views of Rubio, giving him a net-positive favorability rating of 38-28 percent. Meanwhile, nearly 15 percent more voters in the same poll held unfavorable views of Clinton as opposed to viewing the former first lady in a positive light.
