Celebrity chef and television host Rachael Ray certainly has a full plate this winter. We spoke to Ray on the phone Friday (while she was en route to a book signing in Connecticut) about some of the things she’s been cooking up this season. She tells us, between the weekend book signings, taping eight shows a week for her syndicated talk and Food Network shows, and her various charity work (she just donated $750,000 to pet rescue groups across the country) she’s keeping busy.
“The days are long but it is a huge, huge blessing,” says Ray.
Next weekend, the sweet star is coming to D.C., where she will be one of the featured celebrity chefs along with pals Paula Deen and Bobby Flay at the fifth annual Metropolitan Cooking and Entertaining Show at the Washington Convention Center. “The only time I really get to see them is when I run into them at these things, and Paula and I run into each other at QVC sometimes, but I am looking forward to it because I’m going to get to see my buds and it’s going to be fun.” Ray tells us she likes book signings that are a part of a larger thing, “At book signings, you don’t really get a chance to relate to people as much as you do at these big cooking show events. At this Metropolitan show we can do demos, have a Q&A and do a book signing.” Ray will be meeting with fans and signing copies of her newest book “Look + Cook” this Sunday.
