Ex members bringing in the big bucks

BY THE NUMBERS It pays to be a former member of Congress especially, if you take your career to K street when your term is up.

$8,380,000: that’s how much former Senator John Breaux and Breaux Lott Leadership Group & Patton Boggs LLP’s clients paid the lobbying firm this past year according to First Street 30, a list of the top earning lobbyists in Washington in 2011.

$5,250,000: the amount of money former conservative Republican Senator Tim Hutchinson and firm Dickstein Shapiro obatined from clients.

$3,650,000: the total dough former Missouri Representative and House Democratic leader Richard Gephardt and his firm Gephardt Group Government Affairs brought in.
