Biden back on the job

Vice President Joe Biden returned to work Wednesday for the first time since his eldest son, Beau, died May 30 of brain cancer.

“The vice president is very dedicated to his job,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest said. “We are very pleased that he is able to return today and be focused again on the many difficult policy challenges he has assumed in the role of vice president.”

In addition to having lunch with President Obama, Biden met with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk. He will return to his family in Delaware Wednesday night.

Earnest said Biden and his family have been moved by the outpouring of support they have received. “It will continue to be a difficult time for the Biden family and for all of us who care deeply for the vice president and his family.”
