As first lady Michelle Obama nears the second anniversary of her Let’s Move! campaign, she’s kicking off the occasion by making the rounds on TV — where she’ll be appearing on the Rachael Ray Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Obama is set to tape her interview with Leno in Los Angeles on Jan. 31, and the interview will air that night as the first lady makes a speech at a Democratic National Committee reception at 7 p.m.
Meanwhile, Obama already taped her appearance with celebrity chef Rachael Ray on Wednesday, when the two met at Parktown Elementary School in Alexandria to unveil the USDA’s new school lunch standards — which will incorporate more fresh fruits and veggies, lower-fat milk and vegetarian options for students – and the interview is set to air on Feb. 1. Also on Feb. 1 — while also giving another DNC speech and participating in a Let’s Move! event focused on food deserts — Obama will tape her show with Ellen DeGeneres, with the interview airing on Feb. 2.
All of these appearances will culminate in a special event at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa on Feb. 9 to mark the second anniversary of Obama’s Let’s Move campaign, where thousands of kids have been invited to join her for sports activities. It will be the start of a three-day national tour highlighting the campaign’s renewed focus on physical education, sports and active play to combat what Obama called the “crisis of inactivity that we see among our kids.”
