Christie: GOP debate demands are ‘stupid’

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Wednesday that he won’t sign a Republican letter demanding changes to the GOP debates for a very simple reason.

Because it’s stupid,” Christie said when asked by Fox News.

“I mean, because put a podium up on a stage, stand me behind it, let some people ask me questions, and I will answer them,” Christie said. “Listen, if you can’t handle that [unfair debate moderators] then you shouldn’t be running for president of the United States.”

The Republican presidential campaigns drew up a detailed letter outlining specific demands and changes they want made to future debates following a meeting in Virginia last weekend. But Christie, and many others, will not sign the letter and have dismissed it out of hand.

Christie, who ranks fifth in the Washington Examiner‘s newest GOP presidential power rankings, finished tied for sixth with Carly Fiorina and Ohio Gov. John Kasich in a new national survey from Quinnipiac University.
