Donald Trump insisted on Sunday that as a general election candidate, he would become “the most boring human being,” but said that phase would come only after he finishes off the two other remaining GOP candidates, Sen. Ted Cruz and Gov. John Kasich.
“Originally when I went out with 17 people. We’re down to three,” Trump said on “Fox News Sunday.”
“I have two leftovers, OK? I call them leftovers,” Trump said. “They haven’t been nice to me. I will beat them.”
Once he is selected as the Republican nominee, Trump suggested a 180-degree turn in tone for his powerhouse campaign that has been defined and fueled by controversial statements, such as calling illegal Mexican immigrants “rapists,” floating a Muslim registry and a ban on all Muslims entering the country, and saying disparaging things about women.
“After I beat them, I’m going to be so presidential,” Trump said. “You’re going to be so bored, you’re going to say, this is the most boring human being I’ve ever interviewed.”
Trump didn’t specify how he would become more “presidential,” but stressed that “I will beat Hillary Clinton” in a general election campaign.
