Gaithersburg man killed in single-vehicle crash
Montgomery County Police have identified the driver in a fatal crash late Saturday night in Montgomery Village as Immar Enrique Serpas, 30, of Gaithersburg.
Around 10 p.m., District police responded to reports of a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Montgomery Village Avenue and Midcounty Highway. Serpas was traveling southbound on Montgomery Village Avenue in a 2006 Nissan Altima when he left the roadway at the intersection and drove onto the center median, according to a preliminary investigation.
The vehicle then struck a tree on the median. Serpas was pronounced dead at the scene. No other people were in the vehicle.
Police are unsure what caused Serpas to leave the road and drive onto the median. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Man shot in both legs on District’s Southwest side
A man was hospitalized after suffering multiple gunshot wounds in an assault with a deadly weapon Sunday morning at the 3100 block of Buena Vista Terrace Southeast near the D.C.-Maryland border.
Two unidentified masked men both described as black and armed with guns approached the victim around 5:30 a.m. Sunday and opened fire. The victim sustained gunshot wounds to each leg. The victim was transported to a local hospital. His injuries, police said, are not expected to be life-threatening.
The assailants left the scene in a four-door vehicle with Kentucky license plates. There have been no arrests at this time.
Shed fire engulfs Hyattsville home
Prince George’s County fire department responded to reports of a house fire around 2 p.m. Saturday in the 2000 block of Tuckerman Street in Hyattsville.
Rescue units arrived on the scene with heavy smoke coming from a two-bedroom, single-family home. Authorities believe the fire started in a shed and spread to the house.
None of the occupants were home at the time and there were no injuries reported.
