Santorum set to exit 2016 race: Report

Former Sen. Rick Santorum could announce Wednesday night that he is exiting the 2016 race for president.

The former Pennsylvania senator will appear on Fox News with Greta Van Susteren announcing his exit from the race, according to CNN’s John King. It is also likely that Santorum will be announcing an endorsement.

John Brabender, Santorum’s chief strategist, teased the announcement on Twitter, confirming that Santorum will indeed be making two big announcements.

Should Santorum announce, it would come two days after he won 1 one percent of support in the Iowa caucuses four years after coming from behind to top Mitt Romney.

His announcement would also make his the second exit from the 2016 race of the day after Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul announced in the morning he is focusing on his re-election bid.
