Locals hope Leno gets religion

Praying for Jay

We’ve told you about the “Pray at the Pump” movement, the group founded by area resident Rocky Twyman to lower gas prices through prayer. Well now they’re taking their show to the West Coast, to show none other than Jay Leno what they’re all about.

This summer, Leno joked that the group goes “to gas stations and they hold hands and they pray for lower gas prices. Otherwise known as the Bush energy plan.”

So Twyman and his followers are traveling to Los Angeles on Thursday, where they will, according to a release, pray “that God will touch Leno’s heart to understand that prayer is the answer to every problem in life.”

They will sing songs like “We Shall Overcome,” even boasting that they’ve changed one of the verses to say “We’ll Have Lower Gas Prices.”

They also plan to encourage Leno to auction off some of his classic cars to help the less fortunate in the Los Angeles area.
