Donald Trump ready to end ‘Apprentice’ for White House run

Real estate magnate and host of NBC’s ‘Apprentice’ Donald Trump said Friday that he is likely ending his popular reality game show in order to run for president in 2016.

Trump spoke at the Gaylord Hotel outside of Washington, D.C., where thousands of conservative voters are gathered for the annual Conservative Political Action Conference. Several potential Republican presidential candidates were scheduled to deliver speeches, including Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Sen. Rand Paul.

During a speech, Trump said, the country needs someone like him to restore its standing across the country. He also said he’s “the only one who can beat” likely Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

“Yes,” Trump said, when asked by the Washington Examiner if he’s going to end his show. “It’s looking like it.”

Trump made the comment even though he said on his show this month that he had renewed for another season. No return date for the program was stated.
