Traficant prision party, minus the toupee

He’s out of the pokey, so let’s party.

The “Beam Me Up Committee” hosted one of the most outrageous events Wednesday night to celebrate former Ohio Congressman James Traficant’s release from prison.

The man best known for his bell-bottom pants, cowboy boots, weathered toupee and use of “Star Trek’s” “Beam me Up” phrase in his speeches — was celebrated Wednesday night after being released from a Minnesota prison earlier that day. So what better way to celebrate his freedom after seven years in the slammer for bribery and racketeering than by honoring the man with all his trademarks?

Men showed up to the Axis Bar & Grill per the invitation’s request in “thin ties in lieu of toupees and Traficant’s trademark denim suits (which are just too [darn] hot to wear in the summer)” it explains.

The ladies kept it classy, sporting cowboy boots, “cause he’s always been partial to those.”

The inviation joked those in attendance  “will be forced to work on [Traficant’s] farm or houseboat for free” — the type of free labor that sent him to the clinker in the first place.
