Willingham, Dunn share handshake agreement

At the ESPN Zone Thursday, Nats slugger Josh Willingham explained what’s behind his and Adam Dunn’s new tradition of simply shaking hands after one of them homers.

“Everybody always does something crazy” when they hit a home run, Willingham said during a lunchtime Q&A. “Adam and I, being the simple people we are, he just said one time, ‘Give me a handshake.’ So I did, and that’s how it started.”

Willingham, in fact, is so modest, he’s not even sure how he got here. When moderator Charlie Slowes asked the crowd which players were involved in the trade that brought Willingham to the Nats, the outfielder quipped, “I can’t even answer that question.”
