Boehner releases ‘day in the life’ video

House Speaker John Boehner wants to share with you his daily routine.

The Ohio Republican’s office released a three-minute video that shows what he does in a typical day, beginning with a solo walk to a Capitol Hill Starbucks and breakfast at a local diner, Pete’s.

Then, he will “read everything there is to read, look at my schedule and the briefing papers of the day, call my wife” before arriving to the Capitol by 9 a.m.

By the time Boehner arrives, his team has already been there since 7:30 a.m.

He then huddles with his senior staffers who give him the “lay of the land,” before he goes to leadership meetings with the majority leader, majority whip and the conference chair.

“All of his time is accounted for,” his director scheduler Kristene Blake says in the video.

His afternoons are full of member and constituent meetings.

“Nothing good happens after 10 p.m.,” Boehner then says as the video’s conclusion. “I’m always in bed before 10, up at 5:30, quarter of six, and ready to go!”

Boehner faces Democratic challenger Tom Poetter in the November midterms, but given the Republican tilt of his district is pretty much assured to win.
