If only Philadelphia had as much enthusiasm for plowing snow as getting rid of ICE

Philadelphia endured its worst winter storm since 2016, delivering nine inches of icy snow and subfreezing temperatures in January — an unrelenting wintry mix creating hazardous conditions throughout the area. Over two weeks later, many of the city’s streets, sidewalks, bus stops, and roads were still not plowed, as city taxpayer dollars continued to fund an incompetent and inefficient bureaucracy. Yet, instead of organizing efforts to ensure government services were fulfilling their duties, city officials held pointless press conferences, virtue signaling their disapproval over Immigration and Customs Enforcement and illegal immigration enforcement operations.

If only the city’s elected leaders cared as much about plowing snow-covered roads in the city as they do about demonizing and vilifying law enforcement officers upholding federal immigration law.

As Philadelphia government officials incessantly went on and on about the horrors of ICE due to the recent controversial shootings in Minneapolis, Philadelphia’s citizens struggled to navigate through the snow-covered city, even over a week after the storm. The city’s elected leaders chose to abandon their duties to engage in radical left-wing political messaging. They prioritized events that happened over a thousand miles away from where they meet in Philadelphia’s City Hall, instead of helping the citizens whose taxes pay their salaries who live mere miles away.

They sought to “hunt ICE” instead of snowplows. It was, once again, another national embarrassment for Philadelphia’s Democrats. Things became so dire in the city that on Wednesday, Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker was forced to create a new program, weeks after the storm, begging Philadelphia’s residents to help with snow removal. To expedite further snow removal, especially for “Americans with Disabilities Act — or ADA-compliant ramps along city sidewalks,” the city is now offering “same-day pay” to incentivize people to help.

“At the height of the storm, we had over 1,000 employees and 800 pieces of equipment clearing the snow from our streets,” said Parker on Feb. 4. The storm ended on Jan. 26. It took nine days for the city to prioritize clearing handicap ramps. It’s unfortunate that those ramps weren’t federal officers tasked with protecting the country from violent, criminal, illegal immigrants charged with murders, rape, drug trafficking, and other despicable crimes. Then the ramps might have received the appropriate attention from city officials.

Granted, the elected official with the most egregious ICE criticisms was Philadelphia district attorney Larry Krasner, who has nothing to do with snow removal. Krasner went apoplectic over ICE in January, going on unhinged rants, calling the law enforcement officers Nazis, and engaging in the kind of vilifying and demonization that has become commonplace among Democrats. Krasner’s crazed lunacy reached a disturbing level when he vigorously declared that he was going to “hunt down” ICE officers in the forthcoming years, the way they hunted down Nazis for decades.”

DHS SCOLDS PHILLY DA FOR COMMENTS ABOUT ‘HUNTING DOWN’ ICE OFFICERS

“There will be accountability now, there will be accountability in the future, there will be accountability after Trump is out of office,” the left-wing, Soros-funded district attorney said in a rant. “If we have to hunt you down the way they hunted down Nazis for decades, we will find your identities, we will find you, we will achieve justice, and we will do so under the Constitution and the laws of the United States.”

Philadelphia’s City Council was less maniacal than Krasner. However, they did pass “ICE Out” legislation in response to illegal immigration enforcement operations, even if it was just symbolic, primarily to appease the rabid left-wing mob that exists in Philadelphia, and lacks sufficient and legitimate authority.

But this is what city officials were doing instead of ensuring snow was being removed. It’s indicative of how corrupt, inefficient, inept, and radical Philadelphia’s Democratic bureaucracy is. Philadelphians suffered while its ice-cold aristocracy engaged in virtue signaling games.
