DINOs take over the Democratic Party

Tuesday’s primaries were the coming-out party of DINOs: Democrats in name only.  Any real Democrats not in a state of shock or terror are not paying attention. For the party is no longer theirs, and there’s probably nothing they can do about it.

They didn’t lose it exactly but gave it away. Stupidly, they pretended or genuinely believed that socialists were kind of like them, just a bit further to the left. Now they’ve found out that a difference of degree eventually becomes a difference in kind, and socialists are not the same genus as traditional Democrats.

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani backed three jihadi socialists in congressional primaries, and they crushed establishment candidates backed by party leaders. At the radicals’ victory parties, the heaving, sweating, delighted crowds called out to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), chanting, “You’re next! You’re next! You’re next!”

They are out for blood, literally in the case of Jews, perhaps only figuratively in the case of Democrats who are softer left than they are. The Democratic Socialists of America have used the word “Democratic” as a handy solvent to neutralize charges of extremism. But they have invaded the zombie body of the party and, having taken control of its nervous system, are marching it hard to the left.

The co-chairman of New York’s DSA explained on Tuesday how it works, saying, “Our candidates run as Democrats … and when they are in the legislature, they are in the Democratic Party caucus, but we don’t agree with the way the Democratic Party establishment organizes or runs its party apparatus and so we try to build independence.” They see the old blue party merely as a vehicle to get themselves into power, and its leaders and members have been willing dupes to let them do it.

Two of Mamdani’s candidates, Darializa Avila Chevalier and Claire Valdez, are declared socialists, and the third, Brad Lander, might as well be. Between them, they want to abolish the police, prisons, borders, and all immigration control; destroy the United States and Israel; and push for Palestinian statehood, jihad, and communism.

Mamdani came out of nowhere last year, and he is already arguably the most powerful Democrat or DINO in the country. Who else might it be? Jeffries? Are you kidding? Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY)? Get real. Schumer has been running from the Left for years, so he can’t be outflanked and challenged by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

As an immigrant, Mamdani can’t run for president, but in 2028, his endorsement will be gold. All the momentum is with him. It’s nearly impossible to believe a sensible centrist Democrat such as Rahm Emanuel could win the nomination.

IRAN DEAL WALKS AND QUACKS LIKE A DEBACLE

Democrats have been appeasing socialists for so long that they probably couldn’t fight them off even if they summoned the courage and determination to do so. This may prove helpful to Republicans in the short term. It could crimp Democrat victories in this November’s midterm elections, and might make the Democratic presidential nominee unelectable in 2028.

But it’s profoundly bad news for America. We have a two-party system. Eventually, voters tire of whoever is in power, and they choose the other side out of little more than boredom and forgetfulness. It would be nice if the other side were not made up of revolutionary socialists who think “America is a disgrace.”
