Gov. Rick Scott: Get over the election

Florida Gov. Rick Scott said on Friday that it’s time for conservatives to put the election behind them, stop arguing over who is to blame, and focus on their goals at the state level in a speech that won a standing ovation at the right-leaning Federalist Society’s National Lawyers Convention. In an address that played to the conservative crowd while still talking up working with the federal government, Scott began by lamenting what feels like a “constant campaign” in politics, saying that the time had come to seek “solutions” instead of focusing on problems.

“The election is over. We may not be happy with the current occupant of the White House, but the question is what are we going to do about it?” Scott said.

Scott touted his track record to highlight what he thinks should be the goals of conservatives, saying that as governor, he got his state on track by cutting and streamlining regulations, reducing taxes, making the “hard choices to reign in our government spending and balance the budget” and improving the education system. Speaking on original deadline day for states to decide on health insurance exchanges (HHS pushed the deadline back yesterday), Scott struck a somewhat conciliatory tone on Obamacare, accepting it as the law of the land while calling it “the largest tax increase in American history.” Read more at Politico.
