Feminist icon Camille Paglia has been shattering conventional wisdom for decades, so it’s no wonder that she shocked liberals during a Q&A segment at Brooklyn Public Library on March 16th.
Paglia was asked to comment on the University of Toronto professor, Dr. Jordan Peterson, who made news back in 2016 for refusing to change the way he used pronouns in order to appease a few social justice warriors.
“More power to him, this is getting ridiculous,” Paglia said. “This political agitation to change everyday common speech, are you kidding me? People shouldn’t be putting up with this for one second, what kind of nonsense is this, absolute nonsense.”
“These people are searching for their own identity and want to impose on others?” she continued. “That’s not my philosophy of libertarianism, that is an invasion and intrusion into people’s personal rights.”
Having a degree from Yale in English, Paglia was especially irritated by the thought police running college campuses today.
“The English language is owned by everyone it was created by great artists, Chaucer and Shakespeare, Wordsworth, Joyce, and so on. How dare you, you sniveling little maniac tell us how we’re gonna use pronouns,” Paglia said. “Go take a hike is what I say to them.”
