Angelina Jolie looks to be be following in the footsteps of Ronald Reagan, Clint Eastwood, Al Franken, and Arnold Schwarzenegger — shifting her career from acting to politics.
Us Weekly reported that Jolie is receiving council from a political mentor, British House of Lords member Baroness Arminka Helic of the right-wing Conservative Party. The two met back in 2012 and have worked together for several years on anti–sexual violence initiatives.
In 2014, they both spoke at a summit in London where Jolie discussed how to improve and standardize the investigation of sexual violence in wartime.
The actress and humanitarian moved to London earlier this year with her husband and six children, and is rumored to be seeking a position in the U.K.’s House of Lords, an position appointed by the Queen.
She already has a relationship with Queen Elizabeth who made her an honorary dame for her work campaigning against sexual violence.
Up until this year Jolie was unable to receive the appointment to the House of Lords because she was not a resident paying taxes.
The actress has been flirting with a career in politics for years, telling Vanity Fair back in 2014 that she’d be open to transitioning into public service.
“When you work as a humanitarian, you are conscious that politics have to be considered,” Jolie told Vanity Fair. “Because if you really want to make an extreme change, then you have a responsibility.”
