Ghoulish clown sightings at night have become a regular occurrence in more than one California town–and some of the clowns are armed.

The sightings seem to have originated in Wasco, California, where a husband and wife started a benign art project revolving around evening clown art.

They post their terrifying clown-pictures to Instagram, and are publishing one photo every day during the month of October.

But in Bakersfield, California, the police have reported copy-cat clowns are terrorizing the neighborhood, 16 of whom have been sighted with weapons.
