A video that shows a high school police officer attacking a student has gone viral.
The incident at Spring Valley High School in Columbia, South Carolina will be investigated by the FBI and Department of Justice after Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott requested an independent investigation, according to Cola Daily.

Fields was called to the classroom because the student was “acting up in class,” according to Inside Edition.
The Richard County Sheriff’s Office has placed Fields under administrative leave.
Police officers assigned to schools on a full-time basis have become widespread during the last two decades, according to the Center for Problem-Oriented Policing. Known as school resource officers, almost half of all public schools have an officer assigned to them.
