Tea partiers hope to send a loud message to the U.S. Supreme Court next week with a major rally marking the second anniversary of the passage of Obamacare on Saturday.
Tea Party Patriots together with Let Freedom Ring, the 60 Plus Association, the Faith and Freedom Coalition, Judicial Action Group and other tea party groups are sponsoring the Road to Repeal rally at the Capitol at noon.
Diana Reimer, the national and Pennsylvania state coordinator of Tea Party Patriots, told Red Alert Politics that Congress ignored the people when it passed Obamacare two years ago over widespread objection. But this time they hope the Supreme Court is listening.
Organizers don’t know how many people will decide to gather in the Senate park on Capitol Hill, but they are hoping for a large response.
The rally aims to make clear to the Supreme Court that the law presents an unconstitutional power grab by the federal government that is “financially reckless.”
Speakers include former presidential candidate Herman Cain, Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, Tea Party Patriots co-founder Jenny Beth Martin, Media Research Center President Brent Bozell and Let Freedom Ring Executive Director Alex Cortes among other conservative heavy weights.
“This is serious,” Reimer said. “We respect the Supreme Court whatever the decision.
“If they find that Obamacare is constitutional, we will continue to fight because the majority of the American people don’t want Obamacare.”
Cortes told Red Alert Politics that he plans to highlight Obamacare’s negative impact on youth because it sends the message that young adults need to remain dependent on their parents.
“The provision extending the ability to remain on their parents’ insurance until age 26 is the wrong way to go,” Cortes said. “Youths do not want to be dependent on their parents.
“Obama has failed miserably. Youth want jobs.”
Obamacare will actually make the cost of health insurance go up for young Americans because it treats health plans for younger people the same way it does for seniors even though plans for young people would normally cost one-fifth of senior plans.
“According to Obamacare, the ratio can’t be more than 3:1, which will force youth premiums to double,” Cortes said. “The youth aren’t so enamored with his statist provisions dictating random ratios.”
The rally will commence at 12 pm on Saturday and is scheduled to conclude at 2 pm.
