Colorado gets its first luxury hotel where you can smoke marijuana

The latest addition to Colorado’s flourishing pot industry: a luxury hotel in Denver where you can kick back, bring your marijuana and smoke from your balcony, and follow it up with a nice cannabidiol-infused latte at their cafe.

Nativ Hotel, whose grand opening is tonight, will be the first of its kind.

“Other hotels will fine you crazy amounts and kick you out,” owner Richmond Meyer told The Cannabist. “I’ve been kicked out of a hotel in Denver for smoking cannabis — it was a mid-tier, smaller hotel, and it was a few years back, but that’s the kind of stuff that won’t happen in our hotel.”

Meyer is also involved in several other cannabis and hemp businesses, including Keef Cola, which produces medical marijuana sodas in flavors like “blue razz” and “root beer.”

“We embrace the culture, we embrace the industry, we embrace the plant and everything that’s coming with it,” he said.

In the hotel’s CanBria cafe, for example, Meyer’s partner will be brewing specialty drinks infused with cannabidiol. “My partner has concocted different elixirs for different situations — like hangover drinks.”

Even at his weed-friendly hotel, however, there will be fairly strict rules. Only 8 of the hotel’s 16 rooms will have balconies for marijuana consumption. Smoking in the room will be prohibited.

And Meyer doesn’t plan to make the entire hotel a kitschy ode to pot. “We’re not going to be hanging green crosses everywhere,” he said.

Fox31 reported on some of the hotel’s high-end amenities:

The rooms have all glass showers, the champagne suites have self-cleaning hot tubs and there is a lunch/happy hours lounge called Pourtions. .Some of the rooms even have the Monsieur Bartenders … meaning no more mini-bars. This pour system allows for customers to make up to 800 combinations without ever leaving their room.
