President George W. Bush has been known to spread a kind word or two. And the former President didn’t disappoint, reaching out to a fellow Texan and University of Alabama football player with some encouraging words.
Cade Foster, the University of Alabama kicker whose three missed field goals effectively lost the Crimson Tide both the Iron Bowl and the top spot in college football, has been the ire of Alabama fans nationwide. But in addition to Foster’s teammates and fans rallying around him, the kicker — ironically number 43 — has also found support from an unlikely fan.
President George W. Bush sent Foster a handwritten note — from 43 to 43 — telling him he will be a “stronger human” despite his setback.
Dear Cade (#43),
Life has its setbacks. I know! However, you will be a stronger human with time. I wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Another 43
George Bush
Foster tweeted a photo of the hand-written letter from President Bush, dated Dec. 3.
Following Alabama’s devastating 34-28 loss against in-state rival Auburn University, the Crimson Tide kicker received death threats and angry words from disgruntled fans.
All of that pales, though, in comparison to receiving such kind words from a former President.
