Michael Steele to millennials: “The system is rigged” [VIDEO]

By Patton

Former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele addressed millennials in a video on MSN, hoping to relay the true political power the largest living generation has on this upcoming election.

Steele is aware of the possibilities of millennial influence if they choose to get active in their party and hold positions in office to help craft the future.

“I like pissing people off,” Steele said. “And I think you do, too. Not in a negative way, not for the sake of just making you angry, but for the sake of the system and changing it so that everyone gets to participate, everyone has an equal voice and share in the opportunity, and everyone has a way of expressing their preference, openly.”

With millennials expressing serious concern for their futures and the future of America, Steele’s message is a testament for the need for young leaders to voice their concerns.

“As a generation that carries large amounts of debt and new personal financial responsibility, it’s important that they’re empowered to make smart financial decisions that prepare them for the future,”  Kerim Derhalli, CEO and Founder of invstr, noted.

The video targets the thousands of millennials who are “undecided” on the next president and plan not to partake in their political rights and vote in November.

“Millennials care deeply about their futures and in this election cycle they are laser-focused on issues like access to educational opportunity, women’s equality, and the economy,” Harvard Institute of Politics Director Maggie Williams observed.

As Steele reflected through his message, if millennials hope to push initiatives regarding education, women, and economic prosperity, the 20-to-30-somethings need to accept their political responsibility to this country and get involved.
