Listen up, “House of Cards” fans: You might just think it’s really Frank Underwood speaking in this advertisement.
A recently released radio advertisement from the Republican Now or Never PAC features a male voiceover that sounds creepily like Kevin Spacey’s Frank Underwood from the hit Netflix television show.
In the ad, the Underwood-impersonating narrator alleges that he directed independent Senate candidate Greg Orman to run against Republican Sen. Pat Roberts in Kansas. Orman, “Underwood” says, is not an independent, but a puppet of President Obama and the Democrats.
“Elections have consequences,” says the narrator. “No one knows that better than me. With the control of the United States Senate at stake, I simply could not leave this election for the voters to decide. So, I took matters into my own hands, using whatever and whomever I had available.”
The fake Underwood then explains that he “promised” Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid that his plan would keep the power with the Democrats.
“Abraham Lincoln once said public opinion in this country is everything,” continues the voiceover. “With it, nothing can fail. I have confused the voters of Kansas into thinking their candidate Orman is an independent. Make no mistake about it, once he’s elected, he belongs to me and President Obama.”
