People on Facebook talk about Hillary Clinton a lot

Hillary Clinton might have been the “big loser” after the midterm election, but she won over Facebook the week before Republicans took control of Congress.

According to Facebook data given to ABC News, Clinton had many more “interactions” — which consist of likes, posts, comments and shares — on the social media site than did her potential Republican foes in the 2016 election.

Between October 26 and November 5, Clinton racked up 312,000 interactions on Facebook. In comparison, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie got 233,000, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz received 152,000, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul walked away with 93,000, and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush snagged 88,000.

However, Clinton shouldn’t get too large of a head. An interaction on Facebook doesn’t necessarily have to be a positive one.

After all, a post on the Red Alert Politics Facebook page about Americans having “Hillary fatigue” generated over 60 likes, but undoubtedly all of the individuals that “liked” or shared the post don’t actually like Hillary Clinton.

But, according to Bloomberg, there is yet more evidence of Clinton’s popularity on Twitter. While Hillary has an incredible 2.4 million followers, Republicans like Rand Paul and Chris Christie only have hundreds of thousands.

Nevertheless, “followers” do not a presidential candidate make. Many of the Twitter users that follow Clinton are probably reporters or critics — like me — who want access to Hillary’s social media comments so they don’t miss her next “dead broke” or “jobs” blunder.

Alas, maybe Hillary will now focus on her newfound social media power, considering she’s been stripped of most of her Washington power thanks to Democratic losses in the midterm election.
