[WATCH] This nutty dog won’t stop barking at and harassing a presumably innocent deer

Presumably,” because who knows — maybe the deer made an out-of-bounds ‘your mama’ joke and we just didn’t hear it.

Video obtained by Washington, D.C.’s, ABC affiliate WJLA shows an unleashed dog relentlessly pursuing a deer in Rock Creek Park in the northwestern part of the city over the weekend. The black-furred pooch, clearly upset about something, reportedly chased the deer for about a half-mile into a creek, at one point with the assistance of another dog that eventually calmed down. In the creek, the dog incessantly barked and nipped at the deer, with people overheard yelling at the tormentor to knock it off.

It was all for naught until one individual shouted, “You gotta tackle him! Tackle him!”

At that point, the dog’s apparent owner was able to measuredly grab it around its collar area and move it aside, with the deer timidly crouched in the creek bed.

“This animal was suffering for no reason,” D.C. resident Peter Silverman, who shot the video, told the news station.

Radio station WTOP added that the incident draws attention to leash laws in the city. “The law says no person ‘owning, keeping or having custody of the dog in the District shall permit the dog to be on any public space in the District … unless the dog is firmly secured by a substantial leash,'” the station reported.
