On Friday afternoon, CPAC 2012 witnessed a spoof of the popular liberal women’s talk show, The View, with a panel featuring conservative women entitled, “the Right View.” S.E. Cupp, author and commentator; Michelle Duggar, reality TV star; and Star Parker, Founder of the Center for Urban Renewal and Education gave their “view” on various clips of ABC’s The View and provided a conservative rebuttal to their opinions on current news headlines.
The first clip was of Joy Behar, co-host of the View, stating that Obama’s State of the Union Address “was [the] equivalent of Ronald Reagan’s speech.” She referred to President Obama as “The Great Communicator,” rousing a negative reaction from the crowd at CPAC.
S.E. Cupp refuted Behar’s statements by stating that Obama’s State of the Union Address was “One of the worst examples of pulling this country together.” She asserted his speech was disorganized and full of strategic foreign policy accomplishments used to make Americans think we’re safe.
Another clip addressed the recent issue with Planned Parenthood and their ties with the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Barbara Walters, another of The View’s co-hosts, defined Planned Parenthood as the “leading sexual and reproductive healthcare provider and advocate.” She also stated, “They do not use federal money,” to which the entire CPAC crowed booed passionately.
Michelle Duggar added, “[Planned Parenthood] is the leading organization that preforms abortions.” She is an advocate for marriage and the family as stabilizers of American life. She explained we need to “reach out to those women in crisis pregnancies and let them know there is hope.”
Star Parker confirmed there is research showing a “relationship between abortions and breast cancer” and urged conservatives not to give to Planned Parenthood or Susan G. Komen anymore. Her feelings on abortion are that “we have ultrasound on our side,” which allows the mothers to see their babies before they make the choice to abort them. Most women choose to keep the child after being able to see it. Parker was vocal in her dislike of how “[Planned Parenthood] targets the black community” and assured the audience “we are going to overturn Roe v. Wade.”
S.E. Cupp added Planned Parenthood completes “1,000 abortions a day,” as proof they need to go bankrupt.
The last clip featured Gloria Steinem, feminism activist, on The View. Behar’s conversation with Steinem can be summed up with Steinem’s statement, “It’s great to have a family, but it’s better to have more.”
Cupp, Duggar, and Parker agreed families are the roots of America, and marriage creates stable environments for children. The Left’s “modern” views of family lead to economic and social breakdown, contribute to the demise of traditional American prosperity.
