Here’s why Adele credits Sarah Palin for her success

Now that Adele has already broken *NSYNC’s Single-Week U.S. album sales record, there’s no denying her success. It’s even more interesting how she got that success.

Adele was recently the musical guest on Saturday Night Live. This was not the first time she was on the show, however. When she appeared in Oct. 2008, she appeared in the same episode as Sarah Palin.

Adele recounted this memory in an interview during her BBC special, and she even believes that the episode was what earned her her Grammy nominations:

It was one of the most watched SNLs ever and then it was two weeks before the Grammy ballot, which is when people decide what songs they want to maybe nominate, so, like, literally the stars aligned for me. The album shot to number one on iTunes and I was nominated for a Grammy and then I won one! It was a joke! It was a joke. All thanks to Sarah Palin!

Palin shared the signed copy she sent to Adele on her Facebook. She also linked to an article from People which reported on Palin and Adele.

The note included puns referencing Adele’s songs, with Palin writing “So beautiful! So … Rumor Has It you recently threw me some credit for your amazing success – very kind coming from Someone Like You! Congrats on motherhood. Keep Setting Fire to the Rain.”
