Spotted: Michele Bachmann playing her former self — Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann — in a scene from “Sharknado 3.”
Igor Bobic of the Huffington Post caught Bachmann, a former Minnesota representative, and a camera crew filming a clip for the upcoming television film outside of the White House in Washington, D.C., Wednesday.

“I believe they are growing in size,” Bachmann delivered her lines as tourists looked on. “Congress has to take this seriously because ‘sharknado’ is a real phenomenon.”
For those who haven’t tuned into the first two installments of the SyFy Channel film series, a “sharknado” is exactly what it seems to be: Namely, a tornado that spews sharks everywhere.
A spokesperson for the D.C. Office of Motion Picture and T.V. Development told DCist that production is taking place in the nation’s capital but would not offer up any specific locations or filming dates.
It’s no major surprise that a politician like Bachmann would appear in the film, as SyFy announced last year that “Sharknado 3” will take place at least in part in Washington, D.C.
In fact, actress Tara Reid, who stars in the film, hypothesized earlier this year that the creators would get “some political people” involved in production.
In an interview after wrapping Wednesday’s scene, Bachmann shed some light on her character.
“My name is Michele Bachmann and I play Congresswoman Michele Bachmann,” she clarified.
“It wasn’t anything offensive,” the former Republican congresswoman said of the role. “It was just fun. This was a total stretch for me!”
It was announced last week that Mark Cuban and Ann Coulter will play the U.S. president and vice president, respectively, in the movie, which is slated to premiere on the SyFy Channel in July.
Other famous (though non-political) faces rumored to appear in the new movie: Bo Derek, Jerry Springer, Chris Jericho and Chris Kirkpatrick of ‘N SYNC.
