A heart-wrenching photo of a police officer singing to a little girl after her father was killed in a Colorado car accident last Thursday is going viral.
A bystander snapped the picture of Officer Nick Struck attempting to distract the little girl after her family was involved in a fatal crash, according to local TV station KDVR. The father was killed instantly on impact, the mother and three other children were injured and taken to the hospital.
Struck, the father of a 2 year-old-daughter himself, knew exactly what to do to calm the little girl down and distract her as paramedics and firefighters rushed to attend to her family.
“My daughter, who’s the sweetest thing in the world when she falls down and cries, she wants ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ sung to her,” Struck told local station KDVR. “So this girl, I was singing ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ and pointing to the lights in the fire truck.”
The picture of Struck holding the girl was first taken and tweeted by bystander Jessica Matrious, who pulled over at the scene to help. The picture began to get attention and go viral once uploaded to Reddit, Mashable reported.
Brighton Police said the vehicle rolled multiple times after blowing a tire and losing control before landing on its side and that “none of the vehicles occupants were properly restrained.”
