A warning to never steal and selfie

Technology is making it so hard for thieves these days.

Randy Schaefer of Houston, Texas, fell victim to a car robbery at the beginning of January. He lost his iPad, MacBook Pro laptop and $5,000 to the culprit(s), among other things.

The items were gone for good — until Schaefer checked his iCloud last week and discovered 17 selfies on his photo stream that shows two individuals holding up $100 bills.

“At first I wondered who they were, and then within seconds I realized who they were and I saw that they had my money in their mouth,” Schaefer explained to KTRK-TV.

The selfies, according to Schaefer, were snapped at a local Burger King. He visited the store and, though the men in question were no longer there, some stolen items were recovered in a nearby alley where the iPad likely connected to a Starbucks’ Wi-Fi network close by.

“Pretty dumb,” he said of the photos.

Schaefer didn’t have the culprits, but he sure had some solid photo evidence that he later posted on Reddit, according to The Blaze. Users then helped him track down their Facebook accounts, and eventually this YouTube video entitled “Burger King Ballin.”

“This, my good people, is what we get from a good night’s hustle,” an individual who identifies himself as “Dorian” says in the video as he holds up several $100 bills.

The investigation is apparently still ongoing, but it’s not hard to imagine that the culprits will eventually end up like this woman.
