Fans of “The West Wing” can relish in a few minutes of dialogue between some of their favorite characters.
Actresses Allison Janney, Melissa Fitzgerald and Janel Moloney reunited and resumed their “West Wing” roles for a few minutes at the Justice for Vets fundraiser in Washington, D.C., Sunday, reports The Hill.
In the skit, Janney — who played White House press secretary C.J. Cregg on the show — asked Fitzgerald about the Justice for Vets memo that has appeared in the “briefing pile” for the president.
“I was hoping you’d take it to the president,” replied Fitzgerald, assuming her old role of Cregg’s assistant Carol on “The West Wing.”
“Which one? Barlett? Santos? Fitz? Underwood?” asked Janney, referring to the multiple fake presidents on current television shows.
Fitzgerald went on to explain Justice for Vets as “the only national organization dedicated to the expansion of veterans treatment courts.” She called these treatment courts “the most innovated and effective solution to veterans who are struggling on the home front and get caught up in the criminal justice system.”
After a brief conversation about the courts — which involved an appearance from Janel Moloney, who played Donna Moss on the show — Janney concluded that should would take the memo to the president.
“Our nation’s heroes deserve better,” declared Janney. “Veterans treatment courts should be expanded nationwide and they must be fully funded. I’ll take it to the president.”
The skit opened the benefit concert for Justice for Vets, and the three actresses emceed the event. Fitzgerald herself is the senior director of the organization.
