New ‘College Football Playoff’ program launches online logo competition

So long, BCS: It’s time to make room for the College Football Playoff (CFP) – and its new logo.

The new CFP commissioners launched an online competition Tuesday to find the new logo for the program, which replaces the existing Bowl Championship Series. Fans can choose from four designs, all of which are posted on the CFP’s new website, between now and April 29 at 3:00pm EST.

In case you were wondering, the one on the bottom right was leading the pack with 51 percent of the vote at press time.

The changes to the NCAA football championship process and its logo were were announced in a press conference Tuesday. The new system will include a one-round playoff to decide which two NCAA football teams deserve the right to compete in the national championship game.

Texas Stadium in Arlington – home of the Dallas Cowboys and the Cotton Bowl – will host the championship game in January 2015, while the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. and Sugar Bowl in New Orléans will host the playoff rounds. Besides the Cotton, Rose and Sugar Bowls, the Orange Bowl in Miami, the Chik-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta and the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Ariz. will also get to host playoff rounds every three years.
