[WATCH] Hollywood demands President Obama eradicate nuclear weapons from the world

Some familiar faces are demanding that President Obama follow up on his promise to destroy all nuclear weapons.

Actors Matt Damon, Morgan Freeman and Alec Baldwin are just a few of the Hollywood stars asking the president to eliminate nuclear weapons in a video created by the non-partisan group Global Zero.

The video features a brigade of A-listers including actors Michael Douglas, Naomi Watts, Robert De Niro, John Cusack, and Martin Sheen – all of whom are advocating for the end of nuclear weapons worldwide.

It starts off with a clip from one of Obama’s speeches in 2009, where the president promised to seek a world without nuclear weapons, before seguing into a montage of celebrities’ crises to deliver on that promise.

“For if we believe that the spread of nuclear weapons is inevitable, then, in some way, we are admitting to ourselves that the use of nuclear weapons is inevitable,” Freeman and Sheen say in the video.

Many of the stars featured in the short have been critical of the Obama administration in the past. Earlier this year, Cusack called Obama an “Ivy League a**hole shredding civil liberties” for not removing troops from Afghanistan like he said he would. Damon was so frustrated with the president’s first term that he called on Obama to grow “some balls.

The video comes just as the White House acknowledged that Syria has used chemical weapons against rebel forces – something that was considered to be the “red line” threshold for Obama to take action against the Islāmic nation. The White House is now in the process of sending weapons to the Syrian rebel forces.
