While some non-profit organizations are shying away from association with President Trump, one is running straight to Mar-a-Lago.
Truth About Israel, a non-profit which works to dispel rumors and mistruths about Israel’s right to exist as a nation, recently decided to change its venue for an upcoming celebratory fundraiser to Mar-a-Lago. The event was originally to be held in Boca Raton, Florida on February 25th, but upon reading reports of the mass exodus of organizations from the long-time Palm Beach event locale owned by the Trump family, the organization decided to take a stand.
“If the left wants war, I’m happy to oblige them,” Steven Alembik, the event organizer, told Red Alert Politics. “In my world, you either stand up for something, or you will fall for anything.”
The act of defiance truly flies in the face of other South Florida charities. The Cleveland Clinic has held its annual fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago for past eight years, but won’t this year. The American Cancer Society, the Salvation Army, the American Red Cross, and the Bethesda Hospital Foundation have all canceled as well. With more than a dozen cancellations, Mar-a-Lago’s social calendar is wide open.
“Somebody needs to take a stand here and do something. My president is my president. I like what he stands for. With him as president, I don’t have to worry. He’s got Israel’s back,” said Alembik.
Truth About Israel was established by career diplomat Danny Ayalon, who served as Israeli ambassador to the United States, deputy minister of foreign affairs, and a member of Israel’s Parliament.
The upcoming event will commemorate the anniversary of the murder of 11 Jewish athletes and a German police officer by the Palestinian terrorist group Black September at the 1972 Munich Olympics and will feature Congressman Brian Mast, Congressman Ron DeSantis, Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, and swimmer Olympic swimmer Mark Spitz who won seven gold medals in Munich before the deadly attack.
Alembik’s recounted his conversation with Mar-a-Lago’s scheduler to the Palm Beach Post:
“He thought I was calling to cancel something… I said no, we’re moving in.”
