In an effort to channel former Sen. Tom Coburn, Sen. Rand Paul (R- Ky.) is documenting frivolous government spending through his ongoing project ‘The Waste Report.’
Paul released the latest part of his report on Monday, revealing that the federal government spent $250,000 sending Pakistani children to Space Camp and an amusement park to learn English.
According to the report, in March of 2014 the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad put out a grant opportunity to send 24 Pakistani students on a six-day trip to Space Camp in Huntsville, Ala., “to promote the development of English language, social, and analytical skills of the participants, through first-hand experiences in science and technology.”
Part of the grant also included a visit to the Dollywood amusement park in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., named after the country music icon Dolly Parton.
At least Dollywood is less expensive than Disney World.
