Did ABC air the Academy Awards on Sunday night — or a Democratic town hall?
Hollywood is always known to be slightly left-wing but the Oscar ceremony took it to another level. From the host Chris Rock to award winners like Leonardo DiCaprio, all conversation centered around Black Lives Matter, racism, climate change, and rape culture.
Rock addressed controversy over the fact that no black actors received a nomination, calling the Academy racist and giving a shout out to Black Lives Matter.
“Is Hollywood racist? You got to go at that the right way. Is it burning cross racist? No. It’s a different type of racist,” Rock said.
“Is Hollywood racist?” the comedian continued. “You’re damn right Hollywood is racist. But it isn’t the racist you’ve grown accustomed to. Hollywood is sorority racist. It’s like, we like you, Rhonda, but you’re not a Kappa”
Lady Gaga and Vice President Biden joined in the social justice warrior talking points by calling for an end to rape culture on college campuses.
“Despite significant progress over the last few years, too many women and men, on and off college campuses, are still victims of sexual abuse,'” Biden said. “Tonight, I’m asking you to join millions of Americans, including me, President Obama and the thousands of students I’ve met on college campuses and the artists here tonight to take the pledge. A pledge that says ‘I will intervene in situations where consent has not or cannot be given.”
Biden was citing a phony statistic that has been disproven by Christina Hoff Sommers in Time Magazine.
Lady Gaga followed up by singing Till It Happens To You while holding the hands of rape survivors.
No one was a bigger advocate for left-leaning politics than Leonardo DiCaprio, who finally won an Oscar for his film The Revenant. During his acceptance speech he dedicated the award to Mother Earth and the fight against climate change.
“Climate change is real, it is happening right now, it is the most urgent threat facing our entire species and we need to work collectively and stop procrastinating,” DiCaprio said. “We need to support leaders around the world … who speak for all of humanity.”
Meanwhile the Titanic actor took a private jet six times in six weeks last year, according to The Daily Mail.
