New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie stopped by the “Late Show with David Letterman” on Monday night to rehash some of his favorite fat jokes Letterman has made about the Governor — while also eating a doughnut.
Letterman has unabashedly mocked Christie’s weight frequently on his show, but the New Jersey Governor insisted Monday night that he has “a deep and abiding love” for the host.
While Letterman was in the middle of confessing all the jokes he’s made about Christie’s weight, the New Jersey governor shamelessly whipped a doughnut out of his pocket. He took a bite and began licking the glazed sugar from his fingers. Letterman, not missing a beat, handed the Governor a napkin.
This was not the first time Christie has displayed his love for doughnuts. The New Jersey Governor confessed to Oprah last year that he and his wife stole doughnuts from the University of Delaware’s dining hall.
Letterman apparently likes doughnuts too. He couldn’t resist taking a bite out of Christie’s snack either.
Christie also told Letterman that his fat jokes never “really bugged” him.
Last year, the New Jersey Governor reportedly gave comedians permission to make fun of his weight — just as long as it’s actually funny. As far as Letterman’s jokes go, Christie said that about 40 percent of the his fat jokes were funny. He also read out loud his favorite ones to the comedian during Monday’s show.
The office of the New Jersey Governor has dished it back to Letterman before. A press release called “Christie by the Numbers,” released last July, boasted that Letterman has made up to 327,832 fat jokes about the Governor.
And that was six months ago.
