Rep. Steve King to Obama: Host a beer summit with rodeo clown

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) thinks the President should reach out and make peace with the Missouri rodeo clown who dared wear an Obama mask during a performance at the State Fair. In fact, King says it’s time for the Commander-in-Chief to hold another ‘beer summit’ and invite the clown.

King implored the President to see the humor in the situation and relax, writing about it on his Twitter account Friday afternoon.

In 2009, Obama famously hosted what became known as a ‘beer summit’ following a misunderstanding between a Harvard law professor, a police officer and the President himself. After the professor was arrested upon attempting to enter his own home, Obama criticized one of the officers. Later he invited the pair to the White House to make up and let bygones be bygones over some beer.

While Obama hasn’t officially commented on the great rodeo clown debacle, King thinks it’s time that Obama break out the brew and offer the same olive branch to the clown who, after all, must have some extra free time on his hands after being banned from the Missouri State Fair for life.

The clown’s stunt angered many who saw the performance simply as racist and derogatory despite other rodeo clowns portraying presidents on both sides of the aisle in previous years.

However, if Obama doesn’t follow King’s Twitter request, the rodeo clown has been cordially invited to Rep. Steve Stockman’s (R-Texas) district to perform.
