White people need to be punished for their whiteness, according to the blog wesplain.
In an article written by a nameless author, white people should pay for their privilege by paying more in taxes.

The author proposes that white people should have to pay what they call “The Equality Tax” to offset the disadvantages that people of color face today, and have dealt with for centuries.
“Current US tax policy fails to recognize the inherent economic disadvantages that PoC face on a daily basis,” the author wrote. “Racist employers, a disproportionate targeting of minorities by law enforcement, racial wage gaps, poor inner city schools; these all contribute to what is an undeniable reality for minorities. A reality that equates to an unfair economic disadvantage.”
They continued. “To even the playing field, the privileged should pay more. I don’t know how much more, but it must be more. Let’s start at 5% as if centuries of subjugation could ever be righted by such a minuscule percentage. Certainly, the privileged can stand to spare 5% with all of their economic advantages.”

This idea doesn’t seem fleshed out well enough given the fact that the author believes that “308.7 billion” people live in the United States.
There’s nothing wrong with equality. The United States, like many countries, strives for a more equal and just society. Yet, the underlying premise that white people should have to pay an additional 5 percent tax is not only racist, but reeks of socialism. Not like that bothered the author to begin with.
The author’s worldview is that if people of color can’t be elevated, the only option to resort to is to bring white people down to their level. How is that helping anyone?
If anything, the author seems committed to furthering the racial divide between whites and people of color by pushing to implement the Equality tax.
Even readers in the comments thought this article was ridiculous. Some weren’t sure if it was satire.

Something that was done centuries ago has no place in today’s times. Especially when it comes to money. If you want an extra 3k, go earn it yourself.”
At least some liberals are wise enough to realize when their own go off the deep end.
