“Now Hiring the Class of 2016”: Michigan strip club generates massive controversy with new sign

A strip club in Harrison, Michigan has stirred the outrage of local residents with a provocative sign designed to recruit recent graduates to take jobs as adult dancers at their club.

Miceli’s Corner, a gentleman’s cabaret in Harrison, Michigan, recently posted a sign that said “Now Hiring the Class of 2016” along with a phone number to call, presumably for female members of the class of 2016.

While undeniably creative, the sign has also drawn outrage from several members of the local community, who are demanding that the club change the sign.

“Children fresh out of high school shouldn’t be taking their clothes off for money,” Clare County resident Lisa Dickerson told the CBS affiliate. “I think it’s sickening.”

It’s not exactly clear whether the club was targeting high school graduates or college graduates, but girls would likely need to be at least 18 years of age in order to dance there.

Regardless of one’s views on the morals of dancing at a strip club, few can argue that one of the most pressing issues facing millennials today is the record number of young people without steady jobs.

With youth unemployment currently hovering around 10.8%, and the average college graduate owing $35,000 in student loan debt, it’s easy to see why more and more people might be looking to supplement their overall income with some side work in a profession that is 100% legal and pays well.
