Monica Lewinsky tapped by Barbara Walters to join ‘The View’ according to source

Daytime television might be about to get seriously awkward for Hillary Clinton.

A source at ABC told the Daily Mail that former host of “The View” Barbara Walters has tapped Monica Lewinsky to join the talk show.

The insider alleged that Walters, who retired from the program last year, labeled Lewinsky a potential “run away success” on the show.

“Barbara believes that Monica, 41, could make ‘The View’ competitive and compelling and while a lot of Washington’s elite may scratch the show off its must-visit press list, the younger demographic of online users would tune in daily to see what she had to say,” the source explained.

Lewinsky, who has been absent from the public sphere since her affair with then-President Bill Clinton when she was an intern in the White House in 1998, has only recently reemerged to fight cyberbullying, tweet and contribute to Vanity Fair.

Considering Hillary Clinton has been slowly building her nascent presidential campaign, Lewinsky’s sudden return to the media certainly comes at a convenient time.

Interestingly enough, Barbara Walters was actually asked by David Letterman in May of last year — just before she retired — whether she ever considered putting Lewinsky on the show.

“I think it would be great if she were on ‘The View.’ I wouldn’t expect it tomorrow,” Walters responded.

Referencing the former “View” host’s past statement, the source declared to the Daily Mail, “Tomorrow is now.”
