In what appears to be a a gesture to connect with Millennial voters, Hillary Clinton is set to appear in an interview opposite HBO star Lena Dunham, scheduled to air online Sept. 29.
In a teaser clip revealed by Politico, the two “Girls“ giggle about what it means to be a feminist, Clinton telling Dunham that she is “always a little bit puzzled when any woman of whatever age” says “I’m not a feminist.”
“A feminist is, by definition, someone who believes in equal rights. That doesn’t mean you hate men, it doesn’t mean you want to separate out the world, so you’re not a part of ordinary life — that’s not what it means at all! It just means that we believe that women have the same rights as men,” Clinton told Dunham with her most convincing smile and light-hearted laugh.
Dunham, an outspoken feminist and pro-choice advocate, scored the exclusive interview with Clinton for the launch of her new website LennyLetter.com. All you need to know about the site is in it’s tagline: “An email newsletter where there’s no such thing as too much information.”
This is a fitting description for Dunham, who has proven that she believes in no such thing as too much information, even when it is criminal and beyond cringe-worthy.
