Love him or hate him, most people agree that Donald Trump is funny. He used his sense of humor and comic timing during the presidential debate on Sunday to his benefit.
At least three times during the debate, Trump had a mic drop moment where he delivered a funny one-liner that left the audience laughing even though they weren’t suppose to making any noise.
1. “You’d be in jail”
Hillary Clinton attempted to push back against during a discussion over her private e-mail server by attacking Trump’s temperament, especially after the Republican nominee announced that he would hire a special prosecutor to look into her e-mails if he became president.
“It’s just awfully good that someone with temperament of Donald Trump is not in charge of the law in our country,” Clinton said.
“Because you’d be in jail,” Trump responded and the crowd went wild.
2. Honest Abe
Wikileaks released the transcript of Clinton’s paid speeches to Goldman Sachs, where it was revealed that the Democratic nominee said that she needed a both public and private position. Rather than follow with her campaign’s previous position of denying that the e-mails were legitimate, the former First Lady said she was copying Abraham Lincoln.
Trump called her out for the excuse and said the difference between her and Lincoln was that he was “Honest Abe,” and she was a liar.
3. I’m a gentleman
When the debate turned to the audience, Trump began answering a question but Anderson Cooper interrupted the Republican nominee that it was Clinton’s turn to answer a question first. A back and forth began where they discussed who should speak first which ended on the billionaire saying, “no, I’m a gentleman Hillary. Go ahead.”
4. All talk
The moderators brought up charges that Trump did not pay federal income tax in nearly two decades, and the Republican nominee slammed back that he did what all of Clinton’s donors have done.
“I have a write off, a lot of it’s depreciation,” Trump said. “She’s given it to us, hey if she had a problem for 30 years she’s been doing this… she doesn’t do anything about anything except for talk.”
