The commercial’s pitch really says everything: “See what happens when we bring Kraft Mac & Cheese, the Ninja Turtles and Vanilla Ice together.”
You know you want to.
Kraft enlisted Rob “Vanilla Ice” Van Winkle to help promote its new mac ‘n cheese shape this year, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, in a throwback advertisement of sorts. The ad features Ice, a grocery store stocker, placing boxes of the new product on the shelves while rapping the refrain of his song “Ninja Rap.” Appropriate, since the tune was featured on the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II The Secret of the Ooze” soundtrack, one of the more cumbersome film titles to date.
A mother, accompanied by her son, rolls her shopping cart up to the pop culture icon and begins to dance to the song.
It is doubtlessly this inspiration of happiness that helped earn Vanilla Ice the title “Citizen of the Year” in a Florida town.
