The institutions of business, media, and religion have had a fall from grace over the last several decades, but while some have been able to recover, mainstream religious and news organizations continue to decline in the minds of millennials.
Pew Research reported that a growing number of Gen-Y say they no longer have a positive opinion churches and religious organization or of the national news media.

There was an 18 percent decline among those who have a positive opinion of religious organizations — down to 55 percent positive opinion by millennials, and a 13 percent decline for the news and media outlets. They’ve fallen to an pitiful 27 percent.
Religious organizations, labor unions, and small businesses are the only institutions that a majority millennials have a positive opinion of, with 55, 57, and 86 percent, respectively.
Millennials have a more positive opinion of banks and large corporations then five years ago, but they still are overwhelmingly looked down upon.
Overall, Gen-Y has a more positive opinion of basically every institution — labor unions, colleges, small businesses, energy companies, technology companies, the entertainment industry, news and media outlets, large corporations, and banks, than there parent’s generation. The only exception is religious institutions.
