Warren calls Trail of Tears claim “politics as usual”

Senator Scott Brown (R-Mass.) attempted to capitalize on recent revelations that challenger Elizabeth Warren lied about being a Native American to possibly get a leg up in the job market yesterday.

In a statement on his website Brown called on Warren to authorize the release of all the personal files related to her law career to prove the only time she lied about her heritage was the listing in the American Association of Law Schools.

“Her changing stories, contradictions and refusal to answer legitimate questions have cast doubt on her credibility and called into question the diversity practices at Harvard,” Brown said. “As candidates for high public office, we have a duty to be transparent and open and not hide behind a wall of silence in the midst of public controversy.”

To make matters worse, news broke yesterday that not only was Warren not a Native American, her ancestors likely rounded up Cherokees as part of the infamous Trail of Tears March.

Warren shot down Brown’s request at a press avail last night, saying Brown can talk to anyone who has ever hired her if he wants to investigate her background.

“I think what this is about is Scott Brown trying to change the subject,” Warren told The Boston Herald. “He just wants to find a way to talk about something else, and I think it’s wrong. I think this is why people are turned off on Washington politics.”

Warren has fought back against the accusations that she lied for political or capital gain, claiming that she listed herself as a Native American to meet other people with similar ancestory.

But The Boston Herald – the newspaper that broke the scandal – announced yesterday that Warren skipped Harvard’s annual Powwow to campaign. Meanwhile, Breitbart’s Big Government revealed that Shelly Lowe, executive director of Harvard University’s Native American Program (HUNAP), claims “Warren had not, to her knowledge, participated in the program’s events while Warren was a professor at Harvard.”

If anyone is “trying to change the subject” in this situation, it is most definitely Elizabeth Warren.
