Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) almost caused several heart attacks Friday morning when she announced that she wanted to run for President…of the “Tim Tebow Fan Club.”
“I just recently announced that I wouldn’t be seeking a fifth term in the United States House of Representatives but I do have a very important announcement that I would like to make to each one of you today and it’s this,” Bachmann told the crowd at the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Road to the Majority Conference, referencing the eight-and-a-half-minute long web video she released on May 29.
“I do intend to run for President…” she said, to which the crowd burst into loud applause. “…of the Tim Tebow fan club.”
Focusing on immigration reform in her speech at the conference, Bachmann voiced her concerns for the potential legalization of “more than 30 million illegal aliens” should the Senate’s bipartisan “Gang of Eight” immigration reform bill pass Congress.
“We are looking at the legalization over 30 million illegal aliens and we look at the profound impact that that can have on our nation,” she told the crowd.
She did clarify, however, that despite her concerns she is not completely anti-immigrant.
“This is not an anti-immigration speech. Do not walk away with that thought at all,” she stated. “I married an immigrant, a first generation immigrant… I’m a descendent of immigrants.”
“What I am asking all of us to consider are the profound implications of what this will be because amnesty will cost a fortune. We are looking at a six trillion dollar cost for amnesty,” she added.
